The HyperX Cloud III S Wireless is most appealing to someone who wants one headset for a gaming system and a phone or other Bluetooth device. Its additional connection options distinguish it from the earlier Cloud III Wireless. The product is worth considering when that broader use will matter regularly, rather than simply because the model name includes another letter.

HyperX specifies 2.4GHz wireless, Bluetooth and an Instant Pair mode for selected OMEN laptops. It also lists angled 53-millimeter drivers, a detachable boom microphone and internal microphones. Those are useful design details, but driver diameter alone does not establish sound quality, and a long battery claim does not describe every listening situation.

Choose the connection for the device

The USB wireless adapter is the natural path for supported gaming systems. Bluetooth extends the headset's usefulness to compatible mobile devices and other equipment. Instant Pair has a narrower role and should not be expected to work with every laptop carrying a similar gaming brand name.

Check the exact platform list before purchase. HyperX identifies support including PC, Mac, PS5, mobile and Switch in its product information, but connection behavior and software features can differ. A wireless headset should not be assumed to work natively with an unlisted console merely because it includes a USB adapter.

The detachable boom is useful for deliberate voice communication, while internal microphones allow a less conspicuous configuration when the boom is removed. That flexibility is valuable for a headset used beyond the gaming desk. The actual room, microphone position and application settings still affect how clearly the user's voice is heard.

Battery endurance is useful when charging is inconvenient

HyperX advertises up to 120 hours through 2.4GHz and up to 200 hours in Bluetooth mode under its test conditions. Those long estimates can reduce the frequency of charging, but they are mode-specific and should not be presented as guaranteed real-world runtimes. Volume, use and other settings can change the outcome.

A comfortable fit remains more important than a battery figure if the headset is worn for extended periods. Check ear clearance, headband pressure and how the cushions interact with glasses. A model that is comfortable for one person can create pressure or heat for another, so a sensible return option is valuable.

The headset is a substantial over-ear accessory rather than a pocketable travel headphone. Consider how it will be stored, whether the boom will stay attached and where the adapter will be kept. Small removable parts deserve a consistent place.

Our verdict favors the Cloud III S Wireless for buyers who will use both gaming wireless and Bluetooth and value infrequent charging. It is less compelling when one wired connection already meets the need or when a specific unlisted console is essential. Confirm the S version and the platform before purchase.
