If you have an over the hood microwave from Whirlpool, you’re going to want to check its model immediately. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, Whirlpool is recalling about 15,200 microwaves due to fire hazards.

Whirlpool received five reports of fire incidents, including one home fire, two fires involving surrounding cabinets, one report of smoke and another of burning odor. The reason these models are catching fire is because they’re “arcing” or sparking. This usually happens when you’ve placed something metal in the microwave, or is otherwise a sign that the microwave needs to be repaired. While a spark alone is very dangerous, the microwaves in question are sparking and then igniting an internal plastic piece in the appliance, causing it to catch fire.

The defunct microwaves were sold at Best Buy, HH Gregg, Lowe’s, and Sears, and cost between $370 and $470.

Whirlpool recommends you immediately stop using the microwave and unplug the unit. You can report yours by inputting your information on Whirlpool’s website, or by calling 800-990-6254.
