Performance

Reliable and consistent. Professional reviewers and home grillers agree: The three-burner Weber Spirit E-310 delivers excellent results. Owners say it heats up quickly and grills evenly at both high and low temperatures. At ConsumerReports.org, it earns a rating of Very Good for even heating, preheating, and indirect cooking; Good for temperature range. In cooking tests at Reviewed.com, it was a top performer, grilling burgers nearly as well as their top choice, a Canadian brand that costs almost twice as much. The E-310 has a total cooking area of 529 square inches; 424 inches primary and 105 inches for the warming rack. It does not include a sear burner or side burner, but it does have two side tables. The step up Weber Spirit E-330 (Est. $600 [B016M5A2SQ] has a sear station and side burner. And, if you have a smaller family or space, the two burner Weber Spirit E-210 (Est. $400 [B0098HR0PY] can be expected to perform similarly to the E-310 and also gets raves from experts and owners.

Ease of use

A cinch to use and to clean. Reviewers are nearly unanimous about the simplicity of the Weber Genesis E-310, saying the starter works consistently, the knobs are nicely positioned, and cleanup is simple and quick. ConsumerReports.org agrees, awarding it an Excellent rating in that category. It’s also very easy to light, say owners, just adjust the knobs and push a button. Others note that the casters operate smoothly, and the gas-level indicator is accurate and very readable. This particular model uses a propane gas tank, which has to be refilled when empty, but there are versions available that can be hooked to a natural gas line, eliminating the expense and effort of replacing the tank long term, but adding to the initial cost, especially if you need to hire a licensed plumber to make the connection.

Durability/safety

A lifetime purchase. Like other gas grills, the Weber Genesis E-310 must be used with caution and in accordance with the instruction manual, but there are no particular safety issues worth noting beyond those that you would follow with any gas grill. The E-310 is built to last, with solid construction and a sturdy feel. Maintenance involves cleaning the insect/spider screen annually and checking that the flame pattern stays consistent. If you ever need to replace parts, they are widely available at most hardware stores. The grill’s warranty runs from two years for some components up to 10 years for the aluminum castings and porcelain-enameled steel shroud. We read several very positive comments about Weber’s customer service.
