Ease of use

Quick and easy. The SoundAsleep Dream Series Air Mattress claims to inflate and deflate in just four minutes and experts at TheSweethome.com, as well as users, say it really does. The built-in pump has a simple, one-click toggle for inflation or deflation, and owners love that the pump is integrated into the air bed. The SoundAsleep does have to be topped off with additional air — usually after each use, although some say they didn’t need to do so until after a few days or even a week of use. Also, owners say the pump’s design makes it very easy to fine-tune the firmness of the mattress — something testers at TheSweethome.com also liked. This air mattress includes a storage/carry bag, and reviewers say it’s very easy to fold up, carry and stow. Folded, the SoundAsleep queen air mattress weighs about 20 pounds and measures approximately 12 by 12 by 24 inches. The bag has carry straps, but no drawstring closure.

Comfort

Feels like a real bed. The SoundAsleep Dream Series Air Mattress features 40 internal air coils (in the queen size) for support, and reviewers rave over this air bed’s comfort level, with many saying it’s more comfortable than their “real” bed. In testing at TheSweethome.com, it offers good back support, too. At 58 by 78 inches, it’s very close to true queen size (which is 60 by 80) and quite a few co-sleepers say it’s plenty comfortable for two people. We did see a few complaints that there are uneven inflation spots in the mattress, and some say they rolled off due to a “bubble” effect in the middle, but those issues seem to be few and far between — and customer service usually helped those owners solve their issues. This Dream Series air bed is 19 inches high, which many say makes it feel more like they’re sleeping on a box spring and mattress on the floor, rather than just on an air mattress. As with all blow-up beds, the SoundAsleep can get cold at night. However, we recommend placing any air mattress on a pad or blanket and using a mattress pad as well, especially if it’s used in a cold environment.

Durability

Durable materials. SoundAsleep air mattresses are constructed durable, 15-gauge materials, and the top is waterproof. Most say this air bed holds up well over time, although we saw a few scattered complaints about leaking or punctures. However, SoundAsleep has some of the best reviews for customer service we’ve ever seen — even those who are unhappy with the air mattress can’t say enough kind things about the customer service, and they come away ultimately satisfied. Most of the negative reviews we read about this blow-up bed were from those who tried to use it for camping or for long-term, months-long usage. The manufacturer states unequivocally that the Dream Series air beds are suitable only for indoor, short-term or occasional usage by guests, not for the outdoors or as a dedicated bed.
