The MidWest iCrate 30-inch Double Door is a practical household crate when two possible entry directions make placement easier. The 1530DD should be selected around the dog’s actual dimensions and the room layout. Its nominal thirty-inch size is a product category, not a guarantee that every dog described as medium will fit comfortably.
The manufacturer’s catalog lists the 1530DD at 30.5 by 19.25 by 21.5 inches. The iCrate family uses a folding wire frame, a removable plastic pan and an included divider panel. The double-door version offers an end entrance and a side entrance, which can make it easier to arrange the crate beside furniture without blocking access.
What the design changes
The divider adjusts the usable interior rather than changing the outer footprint. That is useful when the appropriate living area changes as a dog grows, but the final crate still needs to be suitable for the adult dog. Follow MidWest’s sizing guidance and account for the dog’s ability to stand, turn and lie down comfortably.
A folding structure helps with storage and occasional relocation. It should still be assembled carefully, with panels and latches checked before use. The removable pan makes access for cleaning more direct, while nearby furniture should leave enough clearance to remove it without having to move the whole crate each time.
The practical tradeoffs
The current iCrate range includes a slide-bolt latch with a locking tip and Paw Block feature. Those are construction details, not a reason to label the crate escape-proof or appropriate for every distressed dog. Crate choice and introduction should reflect the individual animal; a household needing help with distress should seek qualified guidance rather than relying on a stronger-sounding latch description.
The 1530DD is the crate itself, not the similarly named starter kit with bedding and other accessories. Compare the package contents before judging value. Also follow the manufacturer’s precautions about removing collars, tags and leads before crating, and inspect the pan, wire panels and door operation as part of ordinary use.
Buying judgment
This iCrate is a sensible option when the dog fits the thirty-inch format and two-door access solves a real placement problem. It is less suitable if a different size is needed or the intended purpose is crash protection in a vehicle. Buy it for its folding structure, included divider and accessible cleaning pan, with fit and a comfortable introduction taking priority over the product’s nominal size.
