The Wera Tool-Check PLUS 1 is strongest as a compact kit for small fasteners, assembly and adjustments. Its 39 pieces are organized around a miniature bit ratchet, a short bit-holding screwdriver, a Rapidaptor holder and metric sockets. The arrangement makes it easier to carry a useful selection without transporting a full toolbox.
The ratchet has 60 teeth and a 6-degree return angle, a relevant feature when there is limited room to swing the handle. The short body is convenient in confined spaces, but it also offers less leverage than a full-size ratchet. Tight or large fasteners should not automatically be treated as suitable because an adapter makes a socket fit.
What the design changes
Wera’s current 05049055001 set includes 28 bits and seven sockets. That count is more helpful when read as a contents list than as a competition for the biggest number. Compare the actual profiles and sizes against furniture, equipment or fixtures you expect to service. A missing size matters more than several duplicates of a size already covered.
The green retaining components and color identification are practical for transport and retrieval. They reduce the effort of locating the right piece, especially if the kit lives in a drawer or bag. A defined position for each tool also makes an empty slot visible before the kit is packed away.
The practical tradeoffs
The screwdriver and ratchet provide different ways to approach the same job. The driver suits straightforward access, while the ratchet can help where clearance is restricted. Neither turns this set into a torque wrench. Where a manufacturer specifies a tightening torque, use an appropriate measuring tool rather than assuming a compact handle provides the correct result.
This review concerns Tool-Check PLUS 1, not every earlier PLUS kit or the Imperial version. Wera has several closely related sets, so compare the article number and socket standard before ordering. Product images from an older generation may show a different selection even when the general carrier looks familiar.
Buying judgment
The kit is an attractive choice for an organized small-tool collection and a good companion to larger workshop tools. It is less compelling for someone who needs long handles, deep sockets or a broad automotive assortment. Buy its compact access and clear organization, with the exact fastener coverage checked in advance.
