Motorola razr 2025 Review: A folding phone for people who will use the cover screen
The standard 2025 razr trades conventional simplicity for a compact folded shape and a useful external display.

Review basis: This is a research-based editorial review of manufacturer documentation and published product specifications, not a hands-on test. Ratings reflect documented features and buying tradeoffs; performance claims are attributed to their sources.
Why a folding shape can matter
The Motorola razr 2025 is worth considering when folding the phone changes how you carry or use it. Closed, it occupies a different pocket shape from a conventional slab; open, it offers a large main display. The 3.6-inch external screen is central to that proposition because it can reduce how often you need to unfold the device for quick tasks. If you expect to open the phone for nearly every interaction, much of the design's advantage disappears. Choose the form for a real routine rather than for the novelty of the hinge.
Two screens create two workflows
The inner display measures 6.9 inches, while the cover screen supports selected interactions with the phone folded. Checking information, framing a quick photograph or handling a brief task can be more convenient on the outside display when the relevant application works well there. Compatibility and interface behavior deserve a demonstration before purchase. A small screen is not automatically an efficient version of every large-screen app. The best buyer has several repeatable tasks that fit the cover display, making the second screen a daily convenience rather than an occasional conversation piece.
Know which razr you are buying
This review concerns the standard 2025 razr, not the razr+ or razr Ultra. Motorola specifies a MediaTek Dimensity 7400X processor, 8GB of memory and 256GB of storage for the US model. Those details establish a different performance proposition from the higher-tier variants. The distinction is especially important in discounted or marketplace listings where the family name is prominent and the model year is less visible. Confirm both the year and exact tier. Similar folded silhouettes do not mean identical cameras, processors or external-display capabilities.
Charging and physical ownership
A 4,500mAh typical battery, up to 30W wired charging and 15W wireless charging provide several ways to manage daily power. Actual charging speed depends on equipment and conditions. The folding design also asks for different handling habits than a rigid phone: follow Motorola's care guidance for the inner display and hinge, and consider the cost and availability of local service. The IP48 designation should be read for its specific scope rather than interpreted as permission to expose the phone to every environment. A protective case also changes folded thickness and handling.
Verdict
Buy the standard razr 2025 if the external screen and compact folded footprint improve the way you carry and check your phone. It is less persuasive for someone who prioritizes maximum processing capability or wants the simplest possible physical design. A conventional phone removes the hinge-related ownership considerations and may offer different camera or battery priorities at a similar spending level. The razr's value is therefore behavioral: it earns its place when the two-screen workflow saves effort often. Confirm app behavior, case fit and exact model before committing to the foldable format.
