eufy SoloCam S340 Review: Solar-assisted pan and tilt with local storage
S340 combines a moving dual-camera head with built-in storage, useful when one installation needs adjustable coverage.

Review basis: This is a research-based editorial review of manufacturer documentation and published product specifications, not a hands-on test. Ratings reflect documented features and buying tradeoffs; performance claims are attributed to their sources.
A moving view for a defined area
The eufy SoloCam S340 is a battery camera with a dual-camera head and motorized pan and tilt. It is useful when you want to adjust the view across a yard or follow activity within the supported area without installing several fixed cameras. The ability to rotate does not mean the camera records every direction simultaneously. That distinction matters when comparing it with a fixed panoramic camera. Decide whether your priority is a wide scene visible at once or an adjustable view that can concentrate on a particular part of the space.
Two cameras serve different framing
The main camera records at 3K resolution, while the telephoto camera provides a tighter view and supports the system's hybrid zoom functions. The dual-camera arrangement can make an adjustable camera more useful than simply enlarging one wide image, but zoom claims should not be interpreted as a promise of equal detail at every distance. Mounting height, subject distance and lighting still matter. Plan the locations where you need useful detail, such as a gate or path, and assess whether those areas fall within a practical view from the proposed mounting point.
Solar assistance depends on the site
The included solar panel can be positioned separately from the camera, which is useful when the best camera angle and best sunlight do not coincide. Eufy's continuous-power claims depend on specified sunlight and activity conditions. A shaded wall, seasonal changes or frequent events can alter the charging balance, so retain a manual charging plan. This is an event-recording battery camera, not a replacement for a continuously powered system when uninterrupted recording is essential. The convenience of avoiding a power cable should be weighed against that recording distinction before purchase.
Local storage and expansion
S340 includes 8GB of local storage and can operate without a mandatory monthly recording subscription. Compatible HomeBase integration offers another storage and feature path, but the exact hub model and supported functions should be checked before adding it to an older eufy installation. Built-in storage simplifies the initial setup while creating a finite retention capacity that depends on event volume and recording settings. Review how clips are accessed and exported. A camera is more useful when the owner knows how to retrieve the relevant event than when storage is simply left at its default configuration.
Verdict
Choose SoloCam S340 for adjustable outdoor event coverage when its solar panel can receive useful light and local storage is a priority. It is a coherent choice for someone who wants a self-contained starting point with a possible HomeBase expansion. A fixed panoramic camera is better when simultaneous coverage across a wide scene matters, and a wired camera is preferable for continuous recording. The S340's strongest case is flexible framing with manageable ongoing costs. Confirm sunlight, network signal and the exact storage arrangement so that the moving camera head adds practical coverage rather than merely another feature to configure.
