Scotch TL1302Z Laminators Recalled for Fire Hazard

Stop using and unplug the recalled Scotch TL1302Z thermal laminator. The CPSC announced the recall on October 15, 2026, because the machines can overheat and create a fire hazard.

Identify the product

The model number appears on a sticker underneath the laminator and on its packaging. The recalled machine is light gray and white with gray accents, a roughly 13-inch laminating slot and a carrying handle on the right when viewed from the front. About 53,634 units are affected.

Request the remedy

Contact 3M through the official recall registration page for a full refund. The process requires confirming eligibility and a photograph showing the unplugged power cord cut. Follow 3M's instructions before disabling or disposing of the machine; the notice says refunds are mailed as checks after the required confirmation.

The recalled units were sold on Amazon from June 2024 through September 2026. The notice reports 63 incidents of smoking, melting or overheating, including five fires, with no reported injuries. Use the linked CPSC notice and official remedy page to check the current instructions.
