The REP Nighthawk is a useful adjustable bench for a home gym that needs more than a flat pad but still requires the bench to move out of the way. It builds on the earlier AB-4100 with a different base and attachment provisions. Buyers should compare the exact Nighthawk specification rather than treating the two names as interchangeable.
The back pad offers seven positions from flat to 85 degrees, and the seat has four positions including a negative 15-degree setting. The back itself does not have a negative-angle setting in the published list. That distinction matters when interpreting broad claims about decline capability and deciding whether a particular exercise arrangement is supported.
What the design changes
The closed ladder keeps the adjustment post captured when the bench is moved or stored upright. A knurled front handle and rear wheels support repositioning. Those features are especially relevant in a shared garage gym, where the same floor area may need to serve a rack, dumbbell work and ordinary household storage.
REP lists an 88-pound weight, a 700-pound capacity and overall dimensions of 51 by 25.9 by 16.7 inches. Capacity must be interpreted with the manufacturer’s instructions and the complete supported load. More importantly for many homes, the bench still needs room around it for the user, weights and movement.
The practical tradeoffs
The Nighthawk is designed for compatible attachments, including specific leg accessories. Check current availability and exact compatibility before assigning value to a future expansion. An attachment can change both the price and the space required, so a bench-only footprint does not describe the final station once accessories are installed.
The pad gap and width should also be considered. REP lists a 1.57-inch gap and an 11.8-inch pad width. These are personal fit considerations rather than universal quality rankings. If possible, compare the measurements with a bench already found comfortable and consider how the intended exercises position the body across the pads.
Buying judgment
The Nighthawk is a strong choice for varied flat and incline work, frequent repositioning and a planned accessory path. It is less compelling for someone who only needs a basic flat bench or wants the lightest possible object to carry. Its practical strengths are the adjustment system and storage provisions, with the complete gym layout deciding whether those strengths are useful.
